I'm thrilled to announce that I received the first prize at this year's Josefina P. Tuason International Guitar Competition hosted as part of the Denver Guitar Festival at the Lamont School of Music (University of Denver)! Here are the final results:

  1. Suvan Agarwal (USA)
  2. Gabriel Balogh (USA)
  3. Alberto Quintanilla (Mexico)
  4. Alvaro Henrique (Brazil)

Of course prizes are never won alone -- a huge thanks to my former teacher Stephen Aron and also Sharon Isbin for their help in preparing the pieces I played in the final round. And my new guitar by Saeid Aboutalebian was simply unbelievable -- I received many compliments on its massive sound and lush tone.
